In one week, eight participants of my Problem Based Learning group succeeded to make a collaborative task; they have been made a group presentation in Prezi during their 100% online collaboration. The participants did not know each other before. Some of them met last week online. We discovered after the group presentation was ready that we come from four continents of the world.
During making the first collaborative task the group members were assisted by a clear assignment on the website of the Community of Inquiry, the #ONL192 Community, in WordPress: https://www.opennetworkedlearning.se/onl192-course-overview/connecting/
They could connect to each other because of a standard group contact sheet in Google Drive Folder of the group.
Someone started with Google Slides, to prepare the presentation and collect materials from all participants. At the same time someone started Google Groups, to discuss a-synchronously the tasks and after a while someone started a Prezi, to make the presentation impressive, after discussing it with group members.
Why did participants of PBL4 succeeded in the group task? They are highly motivated for this course. In the first online meetings they formulated their high expectations about new learning experiences so they are eager to learn. During these meetings, Danielle and I, (co-facilitator and facilitator) challenged the group to use the tools they wanted and to take initiative. During the previous week, I made contact with participants who were not shown up, and put some effort in getting them on board. Someone lost a password and did not know how to get it back. Danielle and I followed the discussions in Google Groups and encouraged participants in their individual presentations in the community, so they felt seen and heard.
